Horrible experience

I booked my move months in advance. I wanted a morning move since I was traveling from Michigan to Florida. They did not arrive until 2 pm. They sent 3 men of which they were all newbies. They were the most unorganized bunch I have ever seen. There was no communication between these guys. They asked the same questions over and over. They started numbering all my things and then gave that up. I repeatedly told Morse moving about a floor to ceiling all glass curio cabinet I had. They showed up with no moving blankets for anything. When I called the office and spoke to Cynthia Graham told her that was unacceptable she called the men and told them to "just leave it behind". I also have a glass table tops. One of the last things I had of my mothers was a floor lamp. They totally destroyed it!!!! Then they let my furniture sit in Michigan for a week before getting a driver. It took almost 3 weeks for my furniture to arrive. They damaged and lost several things!!! Needless to say I would never ever recommend this company.!!! It unfortunately does not look good for Allied having Morse moving represent them!!!

User's recommendation: Run don't walk.

Complaint with allied moving and storage

My complaint is with a company called allied moving and storage, not allied Van lines. Allied moving and storage is a unscrupulous scam machine and one of the supervisors, Bill White, is seriously rude and obnoxious. As they are increasing the cost of the move, also known as a scam, Bill was speaking over me, phone bullying , and saying stop interrupting me and let me explain to you Mark, how this industry works blah blah blah. Dont use these guys - Allied Moving and Storage - they are NOT the orange trucks

User's recommendation: Do not use.

Allied broken contract

Car transport cost written into the contract is now being raised by 300 dollars the day before my move. The supervisor Bill White would listen to my concerns that the contract says one thing and he is charging 300 more. He wants me to "understand". H

Refusal to honor insurance on items damaged during my move

I moved from Chicago to the Houston area six months ago. Allied Van Lines handled the move. I paid extra for insurance. After the move, I was given a generous amount of time to file a claim for damaged items. I informed Allied's agent in Chicago by email of damage to one crated item the day it was uncrated by Allied's agent. (I paid for crating of this item.) I was informed that I had up to 9 months to file a claim. Less than one month after my shipment was delivered, and after I had unpacked everything, I informed Allied's agent in Chicago by email of two other items which, when I first examined them, were also damaged. About one month later, I filed a claim (137389). There were three claimed items: First, a piece of leaded glass that I had paid extra for Allied to crate and uncrate. Before shipment, there were two small glass panels that were broken. Allied took photos of these when it was crated. After uncrating it, there were additional cracked glass panels and the frame was also bent. They sent me their before photos, and I sent them my after photos which reflect additional damage. Nonetheless, they have denied this claim. I have a quote of $250 to repair this, of which I believe that I should pay half because two panels were damaged before shipment. I propose that Allied should pay $125 toward the repair to cover the additional cracked glass plus the bent frame. Second, a smoker was damaged during shipment. Before shipment the smoker was covered with a weatherproof cover which Allied removed for shipment. About a month after I arrived in Houston, I first went to use the smoker and noticed that the control panel cover -- an essential part. I attempted to locate someone to repair the unit, but I could find no one willing to do so for less that the cost of replace. I purchased a replacement of the same brand and same size for about $300. I propose that Allied should pay $300 for this replacement. Third, a gas grill was damaged during shipment. I know it was damaged during shipment because, days before shipment, I unscrewed a rotisserie attachment from the side of the grill. When I tried to reinstall the rotisserie attachment, the steel side of the grill was bent, which made it impossible for me to reattach the rotisserie unit. The part that is bent is the forged part of the grill -- the lower part inside which the burners sit and atop which the food is placed. It would take an incredible amount of force -- such a dropping it or shifting items within the van -- to distort the same of this base. I attempted to find someone to repair this grill, but this is such a major part of the grill that I was told it would be cheaper to replace it. I purchased a replacement of the current, same model from the same manufacturer for about $1100. I propose that Allied should pay $300 for this replacement. Allied sent someone to inspect these three items in late January or early February. Allied's agent and I have exchanged email. I last wrote to Allied, responding to their denial of claim on February 25. In that response, I wrote: "Also, please provide me with a copy of the underlying insurance contract as well as complete information on the process to appeal any portion of this claim which is denied. If you think this is going to be the end of this, you are mistaken." I never received a response to that request for the insurance contract. Nor did I receive a response to my detailed reasons for objecting to Allied's denial of the claim. Having waited nearly three months for a copy of the insurance contract, and having provided Allied with photographs of after-move damage for which Allied has no photos for pre-move damage, I have again requested a copy of the contract and any response Allied wishes to make to my response to their denial. I have given them a May 31 deadline, at which point -- if I get nothing back -- I will file a lawsuit. The total cost of repairing or replacing these three items is about $1650, of which I accept liability for half of the repair of the leaded glass piece ($125) as pre-existing damage. That brings my claim to $1525. There is a $500 deductible on the insurance. That further reduces the amount I believe is owed to me to $1,025. The failure of Allied's agent to respond to my February 25 email, failure to provide a copy of the underlying insurance policy, and failure to respond to my explanation as to why this damage occurred the move leads to me advise people to avoid dealing with Allied Van Lines. It has been more than six months since my property was delivered to Houston. It has been almost three months since I requested a copy of the policy and a response to the reasons I believe Allied is liable. I have received no response. These are not the sort of people I believe anyone should trust to be honest and honorable. I paid extra for insurance, and what I am getting is a refusal to even provide me with a copy of the supposed insurance policy -- if one event exists. That conduct is inexcusable.

User's recommendation: Avoid using Allied Van Lines.

Update by user Oct 17, 2019

Never heard a response from this email. I filed a claim with Allied for over 1,000 and received 157.50.

Again, they blamed the damage on the packers. Fran Poulter and her daughter who packed these items, refused to acknowledge it was their fault. They blamed it on the movers. They should not be in the business of packing.

When I opened the boxes, there wasn't any packing material. The items were just thrown into a box and piled on top of each other. But the movers were also at fault. I witnessed a mover carrying in a box upside down when it was marked fragile.

They piled items on top of each other and created so much stress on the boxes that they collapsed. Can never use this carrier or these packers again.

Original review posted by user Sep 17, 2019
Several boxes of items marked fragile arrived in pieces. I tried contacting the packer who blamed it on the movers, and the movers blamed it on the packer. No one wants to take responsibility or offer to compensate me for my loss.

When negotiating a price for moving long distance with my coordinator, Rusty, he told me I could lower the price by having a "wonderful" woman, Fran Poulter, and her daughter pack my items. So, believing him, I hired her for 100.00 an hour. This was the worst decision I ever made. Several boxes arrived in shambles, everything broken. Beautiful hand blown dishes, heirlooms from my grandmother and many more items. I contacted her to try to resolve and she blamed it on the movers. She did not even have the professionalism to try to resolve the issue and refused to answer my emails. She is not in business to help people. She is only in it for the money. If you want your items to arrive safely, do not hire this lady. She is dreadful, and her daughter is worse!!

Most horrible moving experience of my life

The bad experience began on moving day Wednesday, April 17, 2019. The movers did not show up at 8:00 am as promised. After I was told to make sure that I would be ready at that time. Did not receive a call from my move coordinator or the truck driver. I finally got a callback two hours later after leaving numerous messages. She said that the driver and crew would be there at noon. They finally arrived about 1:15 pm. We couldn't have made it any easier for them. The boxes were organized by size and stacked close to the door. They came with a shuttle truck so it could only fit half my items. After loading it they left and did not return for 4 hours. When they loaded we noticed that they would throw the boxes in the truck, even though a lot of them were marked fragile and this side up. They finished loading the 2nd truck about 10:30 pm. The truck driver said that they would leave Louisiana for Texas the next morning, Thursday, April 18, 2019. They were due to deliver on Friday, April 19th at 8:00 am. Once again they did not arrive at 8:00 am and of course no one called. They finally showed up at 2:00 pm. After unloading my items, they informed me that the other half of my items were still in Louisiana and would arrive first thing Monday morning. I was furious, I had planned to unpack over the weekend. I pointed out to the driver that there were many items missing, but he promised that they would be on the next truck. That night our bed fell apart that the movers had put together. It was missing some of the support brackets. Later that week we found them stashed behind our dresser. The truck arrived at 1:30 pm on Monday, once again without any communication about being late.I began to check off the items again as they were unloaded, but the missing items were not on this truck. Also, our office chair had used wheels on them. They were loaded with brand new spin wheels. Someone at their warehouse took our new ones off and put their old ones on our office chair. Unbelievable!!! I asked the driver to please search the rest of the truck, he refused. They also tried to give us items belonging to the other customer that was still in their truck. So very unprofessional. When we unpacked so many collectibles were destroyed. We were missing CD, DVD and Album boxes, a printer, a camera and other expensive items. We were furious. Also many pieces of our good furniture was all scratched up that was not scratched when it left our home. I was heartbroken! Today, I received a response to the claim that I filed, even though I knew I would only receive a small reimbursement because I did not use their insurance. Their claims analyst said: The review of the paperwork shows no notation of loss was made at the time of delivery. (The paperwork clearly showed all the missing items listed). As we rely on signed contract documents to verify the condition or receipt for the items claimed missing. Please accept our apology for any inconvenience that we may have caused you. Sincerely, Sheila L. Harvey In addition, this was a $9,000.00 move! Outrageous!

Important to try make this easier for my family and it has been nothing but utter frustration and added work! I could have done it myself or used other moving company for a much more pleasant experience! I do hope to be compensated appropriately I asked that 2,000 be returned. Allied Van Lines doesn’t deliver.

Our truck was due August 2. Found out after driver left town, they had to split our goods and send 3 crates of our things in a separate transport. The driver left in a rented cab pulling our load to pick up his cab which was being repaired in another state. First delay—wasn’t ready. Left a day late, broke down in S. Dakota. Repair there took 16 days!!! Left yesterday morning, broke down 2 hours into trip with the same issue. No plan to get our things here yet! Allied doesn’t care, doesn’t return phone calls, won’t go out and get our trailer, and certainly won’t compensate in the price! They took the money up front, so we are out the money, and without our stuff! Can’t talk to the president because he is protected and anyone else is without power to be helpful, get any straight answers or follow through. Simply ridiculous situation and they haven’t even had the courtesy to respond well to us for all of their mishaps! We will never recommend Allied Van Lines to anyone!
