Allied Moving Services Review

Called corporate to get them to set up move from state to state, figuring they could handle setting that up. They couldn't, their agent in Rhode Island never showed up or called to to cancel. Not a good sign, glad that they *** themselves out, last thing I need is wondering where my furniture and belongings are. Thank you Allied for showing me what I could expect.

Allied Van Lines - Staff Review from Denver, Colorado

I hired Atlas Movers in San Diego , an Allied Mover, to move me to Denver . I paid over $500 for zero deductible , full replacement cost insurance .

The drivers lost at least one box of items and the Claims Dept . is refusing to accept the claim . I'm a senior with terminal cancer . Never use Allied !

Many other similar complaints are online .

They are commiting fraud in my opinion . Will be seeking legal advice on how to sue them.

I agreed with the gentleman , who has cancer (so sorry about your illness) . There is a lot of fraud and mistrust going on with this company.

I don't understand why something has not been done with allied van lines. All you guys do is talk about it. Can we not do something about it. My family members are still sleeping on the floor, their furniture, was suppose to be there (in Arizona) June 1st, 2021.No call from them to say there is an delay ( due to another delivery date June 14th) and it won't be there until between June 17-19..

another inconvenience for my grandchildren, sleeping on the floor. It does pay to read the small print, because that is what they use when you call them to asked where my furniture is !! Something they never mention until you call to complain and then they get smart with you !! Please help my family.

this is my son , his wife and there children. The people you talk to about the situation are so rude!!

please help. a mother and grandmother up in age and worried to death.

Allied Van Lines Broke my brand new Piano

Allied Van Lines Broke my brand new Piano we purchased for $5000 just prior to moving. While inspecting our goods, we discovered the damage on the piano and showed to the driver, who admitted gluing the piece. The Company refused to take responsibility replace the new piano even though we paid for insurance in addition to the moving cost. Allied sent a check for $637 claiming that will suffice to repair the ugly damage to our new piano. This is most despicable moving company people must avoid. This Company is now called SIRVA, Inc. and includes Allied Van Lines & North American Van Lines. Avoid using Allied Van Lines & its affiliates. All the negative reviews accurately depicts this Company's deceptive business practices!!!

Horrible long-distance move experience

We used Nor-Cal/Allied Van Lines for a move from CA to CO in 2013. We had received quotes from 3 other companies before deciding on Nor-Cal/Allied.

All other quotes were lower and offered “not-to-exceed” prices. Unfortunately, we contracted with Nor-Cal because its salesman Paul made what we thought were reliable assurances as to how our move and belongings would be handled. Basically, he sold us on their “exceptional services.” But we got inferior services for a lot more money than the other movers would have charged. The contract with Nor-Cal proved to be a real “bait and switch” operation.

We were assured that our belongings would be loaded once, at pick-up, and unloaded once, only upon delivery. Our delivery was to be within 4 to 8 days from pick up. Our furniture was to be padded and wrapped the entire time between pickup and delivery and arrived as clean as it was when picked up. We also were told we would get a very detailed, descriptive inventory that would show exactly what was in our shipment and we would be given the name and cell phone number of our delivery driver so we could keep in contract with him during the entire transport from CA to CO.

What we got was totally different. Our shipment was picked up and to Nor-Cal’s San Leandro facility where it was offloaded and our furniture was unwrapped and unpadded. We weren’t even informed of this until the next day. The shipment sat (either in a warehouse or on the loading dock) for the next 8 to 9 days.

It took them a total of 16 days to get our belongings to us in Colorado. When our things were finally delivered, pieces of furniture was seriously damaged, some boxes were damaged (one looked like rats had been chewing the cardboard), some had been opened, rummaged through and resealed with only a single piece of tape and everything was filthy dirty. Some belongings were missing and some items delivered did not belong to us. The inventory list was a mess, wasn’t specific, and much did not agree with items delivered because inventory numbers were missing or had been changed on our items.

The driver who delivered our load to Colorado was furious about the condition of our belongings when he arrived in San Leandro to pick up our load. He could not verify the load against the inventory provided to him. We also were never given his name or cell phone number, until we met him at delivery. Also, Nor-Cal charged our credit card for its services, in an amount that exceeded the amount we authorized, before our belongings had even left CA.

According to law, the charge isn’t due until delivery is made and we only authorized the charge upon delivery. After delivery we immediately contacted Allied and Nor-Cal about the condition of our shipment, the damage done, the missing items and our dissatisfaction with the job done by them. We told them we wanted a reduction to the total charges. We were assured that Allied would make things right by us.

We’ve spent months trying to get some satisfaction from these companies. But nothing has been done to make this right. Allied did reimburse us for the costs of repairs for the damaged furniture. However, because our things were deliverer to a storage unit and not a residence, Allied refused to cover any damage discovered a weeks later when we moved things out of the storage unit.

It only covered the damaged we noticed as items were coming off the moving van on the day of delivery, even though the law states you have 9 months to file claims for damaged or missing property. Allied also refused to pay us for our missing boxes, even though we had purchased the rather expensive extra insurance. Allied’s customer service is practically non-existent and decidedly not helpful. Nor-Cal’s customer service is non-existent.

Nor-Cal’s President never returned my call when he said he would. Instead I just got emails from the salesman, who lied to us repeatedly and was not helpful.

We also never received information we requested. We spent months asking for a $2500 refund to make things right but neither company has done anything to make things right.

Damaged my stuff in moving process, and didn't pay back for the damage.

I moved from Carson, CA to sparks, NV in 2012. I was given a run around by manager and costumer services and on the end I was with all my damaged stuff (my printer all in one ( broken), my son's stroller(torn), our floor lamp (broken from middle), my beautiful glass on coffee table (cracked), sofa and love seat ( torn from the sides), and few of my crystal frames and another things got damaged) and then on the end my claim got denied. First the manager in the claim dept. told me, that I could file it any time and had sweet talk with me, and helped me with info. And told me there was no issues. But once I filled the claim they denied it and got away with damaging my stuff, and not even paying me a penny. I will not recommend this moving company for anyone. Cuz when they packed my stuff, my electronics were thrown in some boxes, and didn't even bother to write fragile on it, and my printer was broken when I took it out.

Misrepresented their notification procedure for delivery

I was given an agreed upon time frame for delivery of June 17-June 19. The local booking agent, the driver and the call center for the national Allied company all stuck by this time frame as opposed to a specific day because weather or road conditions could cause delays. However all these sources referenced that the driver would contact me 24 hours before delivery. On June 16th I called the local agent at 4:18 pm and reported that I hadn't heard from the driver and asked if 24 hour advanced notification meant just that or only a call the day before. They said it meant 24 hours. The next day no one is home, we went to work and at 8:18 am the driver calls stating he's outside our door. When I called Allied to complain, they claimed that they try to give 24 hour notice but are only legally bound to give 2 hours notice after they arrive at the destination . The customer service agent claimed this policy is written in the " Rights and Responsibilities Handbook" provided when the contracts is signed . This is not true. I read the handbook. They agents could NOT, reference the page this 2 hour obligation was written in. To add insult to injury the driver Lied and claimed he spoke to me the afternoon on June 16th. A silly thing to as any phone service provider keeps as easily available digital record of ALL calls, which I produced to dispute this. They engaged in deceptive business practices and did not exhibit accountability to the customer.

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

I called the local Allied office to get a quote to move me from AL to PA. Well i was told on the 19th of June that i would be contacted shortly. NOT!!!! I had to contact the office again on Monday. Got a call from the rep and i called him back and gave him my cell phone number to call me the next day. No call. I called him and he basically asked me to accomodate his schedule. He said he did not want to come after 5 pm and have to get home after 7 pm in the evening. He then asked me if he could come at 9 am. I said no that i work. he then said well you are moving aren't you??? I said well it sounds like you dont want my business. I hung up. I called the local office and told them what happened and was told that he was the only local rep they have, so i said then you dont want my business. I moved from PA to VA and was treated awesome by the allied company up there, what happens when you cross the Mason Dixon line. Customer service is shot.

Movers stole items

My dad purchased Christmas presents for my kids and wrapped them to be moved with our items in August. I began unpacking while the movers were still unloading. 6 weeks after we moved I could not find the wrapped gifts. I filed an official form and received a letter stating that they couldn't help because we signed that everything was received. There were 164 boxes and they were at our house until 10pm. Apparently they expected me to open every box. Now I know that they didn't expect that but that's how they justify their thieving drivers. They also stole a TV that we were going to donate. I didn't claim that since it wasn't moving with us but I knew that they were shady once that happened. Also, the sales person said he would take $800 off of our estimate if we went with him. My husband had to go to the bank while they were unloading because they would not unload until they were paid. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! My husbands company has taken them off of their list for employees to use.

Allied referred my move to Grand Strand M & S

Grand Strand Moving and Storage broke so many items and stole items from me even after I gave them several things. 42" Sony Dream System I gave to the foreman. Stereo to one of the movers. They drank all the beer in the fridge. Stole a Blu battery and cartridge. Blower/Vac and 3 extensions cords gone. Plants put inside of boxes with household goods and turned upside down. Stains on NEW carpet. Put wardrobe boxes in the house full of stuff that belonged outside, infestation of bugs from those boxes. Left numerous things on lawn covered with tarp, all ruined. Bike rusted after I specifically asked it be put in the shed. Didn't know what was under the tarp. Just goes on and on. And I'm not finished packing yet.

Allied van lines

We moved from the D.C. area to the Denver area. Our movers were a pathetic bunch. Very slow and very lazy. Our delivery was held up because of miscommunication on Allied's part. Their movers work on the weekend but no one else does. Good luck trying to reach anyone or you will NEVER get a return phone call from anyone. We paid to have our items unpacked and the movers refused-when no one returns your calls at Allied you are helpless. We had a lot of items missing and broken and again, NO ONE returns phone calls. I would not use this company again.

Berger Allied are horrible.

Berger Allied was hired to move our household goods from Milwaukee to Atlanta. When we got our shipment a box labeled with our last name was opened and it was not our stuff. We noticed we were missing a box as well. Mathematically a wash and everything checked out on the inventory because it was a swap out. Now after 3 months of them "tracking" and avoiding my phone calls they have come to pick up the box that doesn't belong to us and not but 5 minutes after they tell me they're not liable to cover the claim for my missing box. That the loss happened on my terms. Now seems like basic math here - when they picked up this box I'm now physically missing a box? And if their not liable to return or compensate me for my box why did they pick up the wrong box? Not to mention, it took 3 months of me hounding them about this box, to please return it to it's owner. It was full of sentimental grandma items. They didn't care, they didn't want to return this box to it's rightful owner. If their "track" worked they would have been able to get this box back to its rightful owner. They probably sell its contents as they've done with my box. They're horrible. I've never been treated so poorly by a moving company and I move every year, year 1/2. They never admit you are missing a box and treat you like you're lying. They're horrible, they're liars and they can't be trusted to do a good job. I wouldn't hire them to move a dog turd across the yard.

I used a different company to move my stuff internationally, but on the Phoenix side, the company chose Berger Allied to assist with my moving. Two guys came, and one of them clearly had an attitude problem.

He was mad that I watched over him as he did his work. Well duh, he was dealing with my stuff, of course I'd like to watch over him. It's not like I was in his way. I only stood on the side and looked, I didn't even say anything!

He didn't say it in a polite way too.

He was extremely rude. I am really disappointed with them and wouldn't recommend Berger Allied to anyone else.

Allied Van Lines of Beverly Hills

Several boxes were missing when they finally arrived 3 days late from my move from Hawthorne Ca to Bellevue Washington as well as most of my power tools. All they would reimburse me for was a saw and vice. I lost over $5,000 worth of computer programs a Wacom board, kitchen goods, Allied made no effort to contact any of the customers who shared the van with me to see if anyone received my boxes. Allied made no effort to place stickers on the boxes, but I wrote my last name on every box. Because they will not attempt to locate my belongings I,m assuming they just stole them

I feel that some higher up should be involved in this fraud and scam. Especially, the way they are telling lies and taking innocent people money !

How long do you allow this to go on ? I have read all the way to 2013 so far, and it’s the same thing over and over (the complaints).

Is the BBB helping ? Their attitude is: I DON’T CARE (Allied Vans movers)!!!
